Greetings! I am looking forward to our fourth exciting season of bringing unique and innovative multisport events to the state of Michigan!

eva1In 1995, shortly after my second child was born, I completed my first triathlon. I had always been intrigued by the sport of triathlon, but never had the confidence to enter one. One day, after pushing my Baby Jogger and pulling my Burly several miles, I got the courage to enter a triathlon. I trained, did the race, and loved it! I was hooked.

Since then, triathlons have been the highlight of my summers. While I love triathlons as something that I do for myself and without my children (my kids have since outgrown the Baby Jogger and Burly) I also love sharing the sport with others. I have met someeva2 of my closest friends through training and racing. The camaraderie felt in this sport is second to none. Aside from my own training and racing, there is nothing like promoting the sport that I love and helping others reach their goals whether it be finishing a sprint triathlon or setting a personal record.  In March of 2011 I became a USAT certified triathlon coach.

eva6Our races are designed to be appealing to all - from first timers through elite athletes. Our races are not just another triathlon - they all have a unique and fun spirit that you will feel from your training to the finish line. We offer clinics for all levels of triathletes during the off season. We offer tips on our website and in our mailings. Sign up on our mailing list so you won't miss out on these. Any nervous first time triathletes can contact us and we will make sure you are in the proper program to finish the race feeling great. Epic Races does not just put on the race, as I said earlier… we are there for you from your training to the finish line.

Liz and I decided to do this together because we found that we share similar interests, values, and work ethic. We care about our community and the environment. We work hard to bring you what you eva3want to see in a race. After twenty years of working as an elementary school teacher, I know that details matter when organizing large groups of people! We put an incredible amount of thought and effort into all decisions we make about our races. All of our decisions are made based upon what is best for the racers and the environment- we are open to input from others so feel free to shoot us an e-mail.

I am excited to be a part of Epic Races and a part of your race experience.  It will be an amazing season with new and unique events mixed into our tried and true successful events.

liz1In 2006 I married my husband, bought a house and then began looking for my next great adventure.  I decided to try and train for my first triathlon.  Previously I had participated in many different sports such as basketball and volleyball but had never ventured into an event alone.  For three months I laid in bed each night wanting to tell my husband that I was going to take part in my first triathlon.  I thought that he would laugh.  It took me three months to finally admit that I wasn’t just working out at the gym but that I was training for a triathlon and then it took three years in the sport to convince my husband to join me.  Now we spend much of our time throughout the summer traveling, racing and directing.  We have learned not to race on the same day.  We rely on each other for support and encouragement in each of our individual events.  We learn more at each race about what makes an event truly great.

After six seasons of competing I met Eva while working with youth interested in multisport. Once I liz2began training with her I found that I enjoyed her company and work ethic.  It reflected my own drive and determination.  One summer morning while swimming in the lake, we stopped to chat between laps. That was the moment I decided I wanted to work with her. As a teacher Epic Races is a great opportunity for me to integrate my passions, adult and youth athletics.

liz3I understand that each race is unique to each and every athlete.  Emotions play a large role in mental preparation for each race.  I strive to provide as much support as possible to any athlete before, during or after participating in any event; clinic, training, or racing.

We love to hear from you at any time, no question is too big or too small.

I look forward to meeting you at our events!

marleighMy triathlon career started in high school when my active mother convinced me to do my first sprint triathlon.  In the past few years what started as a hobby became an obsession! Now I am currently on 3 multisport teams, including the University of Michigan triathlon club, Greater Than multisport, and local PowercyclingUSA triathlon team. I am hoping to make racing triathlons and working in the multisport field a serious part of my future! My motto: the longer and more intense the race, the better!

Have fun, be safe, ride on!

jonMy name is Jon Kazyak. I’m a senior at the University of Michigan majoring in Actuary Math. I’m also an officer on the Michigan Tri team. I began Triathlons in 2008 right after my senior year of high school as a way to stay in shape. What started off as just a hobby has grown into a huge part of my life. I absolutely love this sport and am dedicated to helping others find the same satisfaction I’ve found. Epic Races gives me a chance to give back to the sport.

So come out, race, have fun, and feel great!

nicolebioI am a junior at the University of Michigan majoring in Economics and Spanish. I haven’t done a triathlon yet, but plan to this summer! I am currently training for my first half-marathon and loving every minute of it. My inspiration for completing a triathlon is my father, who has completed multiple races in the past few years and is always encouraging me to "tri and succeed". Epic Races has the same motto and will allow me to pass it on to many people.

So come out, race, have fun, and feel great!
