Sprint: 0.5 mile swim, 10.7 mile bike, 3 mile run - some of the run is on trails with one steep downhill

Olympic: 1500m swim, 40k bike, 10k run - most of the run will be on dirt roads

Race Venue:

Big Portage Lake, Waterloo Recreation Area, 20 miles west of Ann Arbor, MI

Park Info: A State Park permit is needed to enter Waterloo Recreation Area.

  • The Recreation Passport is your $10 ticket to Michigan's state parks and outdoor adventures!
  • Out-of-state residents will still be required to purchase a $8 daily permit or a $29 annual Motor Vehicle Permit.
  • Michigan residents CANNOT purchase a one day, you must do the Recreation Passport.
Transition Info: Everyone must be finished setting up and out of the transition by 7:15 AM SHARP

Identification:

USAT Members must present a current USAT card or it will be necessary to pay the one day license fee.
Non-USAT members who paid a one-day license fee need not present proof of membership.
All participants MUST PRESENT PHOTO ID.

Schedule of Race Day Events:

  • 5:45 a.m. Packet Pick-Up
  • 5:45 a.m. Transition area opens
  • 7:00 a.m. Packet Pick-Up closes
  • 7:15 a.m. Transition area closes
  • 7:15 a.m. Mandatory meeting on beach
  • 7:30 a.m. Race begins
  • 10:00 a.m. Post-race celebration and athlete lunch, finish area
  • 11:00 a.m. Awards ceremony (approximate time)

Wetsuit Rule:

Each participant shall be permitted to wear a wetsuit without penalty in this event up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit.

Race Divisions:

30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90-99, 100-109, 110-119, 120-129, 130-139, 140-149, 150-159, 160-169; NO RELAYS (combined ages)

Awards:

Triathlon - Top three overall, top master (80 combine years over), top grand master (100 combine years and over), top three in each age division.
Finisher award to all finishers.

Medical Services:

American Red Cross will be on site and handle all race related medical problems. Jackson Valley Ambulance will be on pull-out alert for our event.
